Language

Summer (June-August) is the peak season with the best weather, but it also brings the largest crowds and highest prices. As a lover of sunshine and warm weather, this is my favorite time to visit.

Spring (March-May) and Fall (September-October) have good weather, moderate crowds, and moderate prices.

Winter (November-February) is the best time for budget travel.

Currency

The official currency is the Euro (EUR). Major credit cards are generally accepted, but you may want to have some cash for small shops and tips as well as certain destinations.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit depends on what you want to do and where you want to go. Generally, from November-May, the weather is warm and sunny. Expect more rain from June-October. I’ve enjoyed the beaches year-round (even in August and September, just prepare for bouts of rain during this time!)

Transportation

Spain has a great public transportation system with affordable trains and buses within the country and to other European countries.

Taxis and Uber are available in larger cities.

Top Places to Visit in Spain

Barcelona. Barcelona is known for its art, architecture, and tapas. Visit La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell,

Seville. Don’t miss the Plaza de Espana, Real Alcazar de Sevilla, or Catedral de Sevilla.

Mallorca. Relax and explore the beaches and nightlife of this Balearic island in the Mediterranean. Also visit Catedral de Mallorca, Alcudia Old Town, and Cuevas del Drach.

Madrid. Top sights include Palacio Real, El Retiro Park, Gran Via, Museo del Prado, Plaza Mayor.
